The EM578 utilizes a jig-welded, GT-style tubular chassis. This perimeter space frame chassis:
Combines maximum rigidity, strength, and safety with minimized weight
Arranges many individual components into a series of triangulated stress members
Distributes stress and strain throughout the entire chassis, not just "big" tubes or rails
Note: some competitive chassis designs use only heavy main frame members with tabs and tubes tacked on to support the body, which is less rigid.
The overall effect is an extremely strong frame - our design advantage!
No-compromise approach to safety...
Our chassis design protects you and your passenger, incorporating:
Integrated roll hoops above the feet, legs and head to provide roll-over protection
Large, reinforced side rails to protect in a side impact collision
Front and rear impact cages designed to crush and breakaway in the event of a violent collision
In addition to the standard seat belt anchor points, optional anchor points are provided for 5- or 6-point seat restraint systems
The EM578 is safe for the street AND when driven hard at the track!
A purpose for each aspect of design...
Our goal was to deliver a stable, responsive racing machine that is fun and exhilarating to drive!
We achieved this goal with the EM578 through extensive research:
Studying many designs, both on the street and track
Applying our engineering background and meticulous experimentation
Measuring, clamping, and lasering many ideas to reach the final design
The result: receive quick suspension response with very little bump steer (when you hit a big bump and the steering wheel gets yanked out of your hand).
It's easy to fine tune the suspension to suit your driving purpose!
Strong welds and finish for lifetime enjoyment...
A fixture holds the chassis, allowing us to align individual tubes for welding
We use two different welding methods:
Some welding is accomplished using MIG equipment and techniques
The most critical welds are placed using the TIG (or "Heliarc") method
All joints are full welded and inspected for defects and quality
The chassis is chemically cleaned, coated with epoxy-based primer, finished with high quality acrylic enamel paint
Powdercoating your EM578 chassis is an available option!
Methodical assembly, quality assurance...
First, the floor pan and underbody panels are bonded and riveted to the chassis
Next, the fore and aft firewalls are affixed using the same technique
Soon, the internals are ready for installation, including:
Brakes
Fuel system
Vents, hoses, and all other wiring
Suddenly your EM578 begins to take shape!
Quality inspections occur throughout each stage of assembly!
The ultimate suspension for street AND track use...
Exactly what you would expect on a true racing machine
Optimized handling through:
Tubular unequal length A-arms for both the front and rear suspensions
A-arms allow the axis of the wheel to remain vertical as the wheels travel up and down
Carrera coilover shock absorbers, front and rear
Commonly used in racing
Adjustabe ride stiffness, ride height, and rebound characteristics
Fitted with large 1.5" diameter tubular adjustable swaybars
Fast ratio steering rack with tilt steering column, coupled to forged ARCA front spindles
Optimize suspension for country cruises, or showing off at your local track!
